The Sixsmiths is a comedy about an ordinary family of Satanists who have fallen on hard times.
The Sixsmiths webcomic originally ran on this site on a weekly basis while Franks and Schmidt prepared the first Sixsmiths vol.01, which was published by Slave Labor Graphics in 2010. Many wonderful guest collaborators contributed to the webcomic, including Jen Breach, Trevor Wood, Mike Athey, Greg Gates and Luke Pickett. The webcomic features short stories about the situations and characters portrayed in vol.01, which is constituted of longer story arcs. The graphic novel is a wholly new work; not a collection of the strips posted on this site. Some of the strips from the webcomic were also published as The Sixsmiths #1, which was sold as a $1 promotional book at San Diego Comicon and in comic stores.
The webcomic is still irregularly updated, but there has been no schedule since the the vol.01 was first released.
The Sixsmiths was created by Jason Franks (writer) and J. Marc Schmidt (artist). Franks is the author of the McBLACK and LEFT HAND PATH comic series, the occult rock’n’roll novel BLOODY WATERS, as well as the short story collection UNGENRED. He has twice been nominated for an Aurealis Award. Schmidt is the author of the graphic novels EGG STORY and EATING STEVE, the non-fiction book SECRETS OF POPULAR CULTURE, and the short story collection ALL YOU BASTARDS CAN GO JUMP OFF A BRIDGE.
In 2015 a remastered edition of The Sixsmiths volume 1 was published by Caliber Comics, simultaneously with the long-awaited volume 2, written by Franks and illustrated by a host of Australia’s finest comic artists.
