Children of darkness, it’s that time again.

Allow me to introduce another of the artists we have slated for volume the second: Tyrannical Trevor Wood.

Trev has been a longstanding supporter of the Sixsmiths, and in fact it was he who convinced me that I could pull this project off with multiple artists (by citing Jen Van Meter’s excellent Hopeless Savages.)

Trev is best known for his work on Sawbones–still one of my absolute favourite Aussie comics–with writer Jen Breach. Both Jen and Trev contributed to the Sixsmiths webcomic back when J. Marc and I were putting together volume 1 and it is a huge pleasure to have Trevor participating as a featured artist in volume 2.

Here’s a panel from his chapter, just to get you smacking your lips. That’s right–this is Dennis’ first day at Satan School.

Trevor has also worked with me on McBlack, if you would like to see just how versatile an artist he is.

Welcome aboard, Trevor!

Devil Dogs and Cat Fanciers,

It’s time to reveal another one of the fabulous artists: Gregory MacKay.

I am ridiculously pleased to have Gregory contributing to this project, and here’s why: I was at high school with Gregory. We shared English and Art classes in year 12, and in fact it was Greg who got me into comics in the first place. (Greg looked at the work I was doing and passed me a copy of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman. “Read this,” was all he said to me.)

Here’s a panel from Gregory’s chapter of volume 2:

Gregory is probably best known for his brilliant Francis Bear graphic novels, which are published by Milk Shadow Books in English and The Hoochie Coochie in French. He won the Lord Mayor’s Creative Writing Award with his short story ’Slow Panic’ in 2011.

Welcome, Gregory!

It is with tremendous pleasure that I present the next Volume 2 artist to you, my evil brethren: jovial Jan Scherpenhuizen!

I’ve known and worked with Jan in various projects and in different capacities in the few years I’ve known him and he’s a talented, passionate, versatile and knowledgeable artist and writer.

Here’s a page out of his Sixsmiths chapter:

I think it’s immediately obvious why I’m stoked to have Jan on board. Jan has worked all across publishing in his career as a writer, an artist, an agent and an editor. He worked on Wolverine for Marvel Comics and his creator-owned horror graphic novel The Twilight Age was serialized by Black House Comics. Jan is the master of numerous different art styles and at least three of them will be on display in The Sixsmiths volume 2.

Welcome, Jan!

It is time once more to introduce another new Sixsmiths artist:

Sacha Bryning’s very name is vested with some heavy occult significance, so it seems only natural that he lends some of his insidious powers to The Sixsmiths.

Sacha is an animator, a storyboard artist and an illustrator. His work has appeared in Gaining Velocity, Fireside Tales and the brilliant metafictional newspaper strip comic Sam and Laz. He’s a super-talented new force in Australian comics and it gives us great pleasure to welcome him into the Sixsmiths family.

Hey there, hellions,

It’s time for me to introduce you to another of the artists who will be gracing the pages of Sixsmiths volume 2 with his infernal ink well: Aussie comics legend Greg Gates.

Greg has been a key player int he Australian comics scene for decades now. He’s worked with Dillon Naylor, Dave Hodson, Phil Bentley, Jan Scheprenhuizen, Ian Gould, David Bird and even radio personality Leaping Larry L, in publications like Fox Comics, LAF, Ink Spokts and dozens of others, much of it collected in the 2012 volume Strange Worlds: The Art of Greg Gates.

Greg has of course contributed to the Sixsmiths webcomic, too. You can see his story, ‘Mud in Your Eye’ right here: http://www.thesixsmiths.com/wordpress/?p=507

G’day, Grendels,

It’s that time again, when I have the incredible pleasure of introducing another Sixsmiths vol.02 artist. From Chicago, Illinois in the United States of America, where only the ammunition is metric… it’s Nine Millimeter Ed Siemienkowicz!

Ed is probably best known for his comic post-1980s-apocalypse comic, Chrome and Dust, and for his autobiographical webcomic Random Play. Although he’s our token American, Ed’s work has been published in Australia’s longest running anthology series, Tango. He has collaborated with Franks several times in the past, most notably on the short piece “How To Be Cool” for Hard Words. He is also one of the masterminds behind Voice of the Republic, one of the internet’s most popular Star Wars podcasts.

Edo-san is one of my longest-serving creator friends. We’ve gone drinking together in five cities across three continents and I look forward to sharing a future beer with him over a brand new copy of The Sixsmiths in some yet-to-be-determined location.

Nine is the count of his calibre, and three is the number of times he has worked with Franks. A nine is a six inverted–could the omen be any clearer?

Praise unto their Dread Majesties, for Eddie the S walks among us!
